There used to be a stigma associated with glasses. “Four-eyes,” and “brainchild” are a few names a few of us may recall growing up with prescription glasses. Since then, there has been an ostensible shift in how mainstream culture views eyewear, and a large part of it is due to glasses-donning celebrities who grace public functions unabashedly bespectacled. From pop star Mandy Moore to actress Katherine Heigl, it’s almost rare to find a celebrity who doesn’t wear a pair nowadays. Some celebrities have taken it further by incorporating their respective eyewear into their professional and public image. Take for example, the iconic Johnny Depp whose glasses have appeared both on screen in several movies such as Secret Window and The Ninth Gate, as well as off screen for premieres and interviews. His glasses have become as much of an integral part of his image as veteran actress Diane Keaton who is practically never seen without her sharp looking specs. And if glasses are good enough for the wife of Don Corleone, they’re more than good enough for the rest of us.
